Each career is broken down into different sections, such as 'Personal Qualities and Skills' and 'Qualifications', which each provide information about the career.
Many careers contain a series of photographs, which feature real people at work in the career you are finding out about.
Each career is associated with a number of Aspects of Work. The Aspects of Work are the different skills, abilities and conditions of work associated with a career. Looking at a career's Aspects of Work can help you decide whether it is suitable for you.
The qualifications shown for each career in Career Directions are the usual exams and subjects which you are likely to need. They may change from year to year depending on how much competition there is for careers or courses.

Remember - ask your careers adviser or FÁS employment services officer if you are unsure about the qualifications you will need.
Within each Career Details section, certain key words and phrases have been highlighted as glossary items, for example, freelance. Select the word link to see a brief definition of its meaning.
You can save or print information from Career Directions by using your browser. You can print your Career Details by selecting the Print option on your browser.
