Exploring Your Own Career Ideas

You can explore your own career ideas in Career Directions.

Career Directions lists all the careers in its database in A - Z order. Some careers are known by more than one name. For example Astronomer is also listed as Space Scientist.

To view detailed career information click on a career in the list.

 

Types of Work

What are Types of Work?
Types of Work are general areas of work such as 'Scientific and Technical'. All the careers in Career Directions are grouped into Types of Work. Each career can belong to up to four Types of Work.

For example: Emergency Medical Technician has four different Types of Work: Service to the Public, Scientific and Technical, Practical Skills and Social.

There are 14 Types of Work on the Career Directions database, all of which are displayed in 'Your Own Career Ideas'. Click on a Type of Work to make Career Directions list only those careers associated with it.

When you have selected a Type of Work, click on 'View Type of Work Details'. Career Directions will show you a description of that Type of Work together with a list of related Aspects of Work.
